State Bank Institute of Rural Banking (SBIRB) an ISO 9001:2015 Certified Institute is an Apex Training Institute of State Bank of India. State Bank of India, the premier commercial Bank of India, has been in the forefront of rural banking and financial inclusion by extending financial support in accelerating the rural economy through its 15000 plus rural branches located across the country. The ground level experience has helped us to document and gain expertise in the rural operations. With the ground level experience of operations, expertise in the domain of agriculture and allied activities and in imparting knowledge, developing skills especially to the functionaries operating in the rural banking, micro finance and financial inclusion, we have been building capacities for the last four decades and have so far trained over hundred thousand employees of the Bank, Regional Rural Banks, Commercial and Private Banks in India, conducted various workshops for organizations in the SAARC region, exchange visits of Students and Bankers from Asia and Africa. A Career Banker in State Bank of India with 36 years of service. Worked in various capacities both in India and Abroad. Has experience in branch operations, Credit and other administrative roles. Important assignments include, Branch Manager, Manager (Credit), Regional Representative Cairo Egypt, Regional Manager at Hyderabad and Kurnool, Deputy General Manager at Corporate Centre and Chennai Zone2. His assignments as General Manager include, MAB Department at CC Mumbai, MD & CEO SBI Payment Services P Ltd and Management Audit at IAD Hyderabad. He has assumed charge as Director, SBIRB on 31st March, 2021.
Smt. Swarnalatha Ramakrishnan is a postgraduate in Agricultural Science. She joined the bank in 1985 and has vast experience in Branch Operations, Retail, Forex & Agricultural Banking. She has also headed the newly established Agri. Gold Loans & Investment Credit division of SBI.
Ms. Neelam Upadhyay, (AGM, Faculty)
Ms. Neelam joined the bank in 1990. She is a Postgraduate in Physics, a CAIIB and has completed the courses of Trade Finance & AML-KYC through IIBF. With nearly three decades of association with the bank, she has a repertoire of experience in areas such as Retail, Forex, Rural Banking, Human Resources, Customer Service, Marketing & Communications.
Dr T N Tripathy, (AGM, Faculty)
Dr T N Tripathy has graduated in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry from Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology and joined SBI in 1989. He is a CAIIB and has diverse experience in Branch banking especially agri. intensive, and Retail Credit. He is certified Behavioural Sciences Trainer and has more than 6 years’ experience as a trainer in bank's training institutions. His specialization includes Agri Allied Activities, Livestock Finance, and Investment Credit in Agri. Finance.
Sh. Kotturi Raghavarao (AGM, Faculty)
Kotturi Raghavarao is M. Com, MBA (Banking and Finance), a CAIIB with 32 years of experience in banking. He holds 13 Certificate Courses offered by National Institute of Securities Management and IIBF. He completed various assignments in Branch Operations, Retail business, SME and High Value Advances and Human Resources Management. He has also completed two research studies on Micro Finance Institutions and Farmer Producer Organisations. He was awarded Best Faculty award in the Bank. He has handled training sessions for bankers from Bhutan, Nepal and officials from NABARD, RRB etc and also as a guest faculty for various Public and Private Sector Bank Officials.
Sh. Prashant Bhalchandra Keskar, (AGM, Faculty)
Prashant Bhalchandra Keskar is a Postgraduate in agriculture with specialization in Agronomy (Soil and Water Management), worked as class II officer in Horticulture department of Government of Maharashtra before joining State Bank of India. He holds certificate of Effective Online Tutoring from University of Oxford and certificate course on RTI apart from being a CAIIB and completing other Certificate courses of IIBF.
He has 34 years of professional experience in various assignments handling export and import finance, processing commercial credit, SME finance and rural finance specializing in financing high tech agriculture. His specialization both technical and project implementation is in protected area cultivation, minor irrigation, medicinal & aromatic plantations, high density fruit orchards, stevia cultivation and organic farming. He is a regular guest faculty in NIRD, MANAGE, JNIB of IDBI, Apex training institute of Andhra Bank and Syndicate Bank. He also designed and conducted onsite programs on “Commercial aspects of Financing Medicinal and Aromatic Crops” at Kochi, Dehradun and Lucknow for officials of other banks. He was awarded as the Best Faculty among Apex Training Institutes of SBI.
Sh. G.E.V.Prasada Rao, (AGM &Faculty)
G.E.V. Prasada Rao is a Post-Graduate in Human Resources Management with CAIIB and Executive MBA from SP Jain Institute of Management & Research, Mumbai. He joined the Bank in 1985 and possesses several Certifications from IIBF, SBI Life, SBI General, and Commercial Credit (CICC) from Moody’s. He held wide range of assignments at Branches, AO, TFCPC etc. and worked as RFIA auditor besides a stint in Training system. His areas of special interest include Agri Banking, Financial Inclusion, Micro-finance, Risk Management, Internal Audit, Forex etc.
Sh.N.V.R.S. Subba Rao, (AGM, Faculty),
N.V.R.S. Subba Rao is an MBA (Banking & Finance) who also holds a PG Diploma in Rural Development and Advanced Wealth Management Course (former PGDFA). He is a CAIIB who joined bank in 1983 and handled various assignments in branch operations, Agriculture, training. His specialization is in Rural Marketing, Agri Allied Activities, Project Approach, SME finance, Risk Mitigation etc. He is a certified Behavioural Science Faculty. He participated in training programs held at Israel, CPDO, Bengaluru, XLRI Jamshedpur. He has a penchant for case study writing and his case studies were selected in the case documentation competition by BIRD, Lucknow, NIBM Pune and IIBF Mumbai for administering during training at their institutes. He was adjudged as Best Faculty of Apex Training Institutes of the Bank for two consecutive years. He had co-ordinated several external programmes on Poultry and Fisheries at different locations.
Ms. Karuna Yarasi, (AGM, Faculty)
Karuna Yarasi is M.A, LLB, CAIIB, MBA (Banking &Finance) with 31 years of experience in banking. She has held various assignments ranging from Forex to Agriculture, Corporate office of the bank to rural branches. Her areas of interest and specialisation include Financial Inclusion, Micro Finance, Livelihood Finance, and Financing Collectives. Her research studies are on Financial Inclusion and Co-Origination of Loans by Banks and NBFCs. She was awarded Best Faculty Award in the Bank consecutively for two years and Best Research Study Award. Her area of interest is Program Designing for capacity building of Bankers, Companies, Agripreneurs, Students involved in rural development and financial inclusion. She handled sessions for Bankers working in India, Uganda, Bhutan, Nepal and other Asian Countries, Students, Agripreneurs, Executives of Companies (Business Correspondents). As a certified trainer in Behavioural Sciences, she also handles training programs for change management, human resources management, organisational behaviour and soft skills.

Diwakar Jha is M.Sc.(Physics), MCA(IGNOU), MBA (IIT ISM Dhanbad) and a CAIIB. Sri Jha joined SBI in 1989 and possesses several Certifications from IIBF, NISM and Certification in Commercial Credit (CICC) from Moody’s. He has vast experience in branch operations, financial inclusion and training. He handles sessions for Bankers working in India, Executives of Companies (Business Correspondents). His area of specialization includes SHG, Financial Inclusion, Production credit, Retail credit.
Dr N Padmanaba Pillai, (AGM, Faculty)
Dr N Padmanaba Pillai, M.Sc., Ph.D., joined the Bank in 2002. He is a Doctorate in Horticulture with specialization in Floriculture. He has completed several certificate courses of IIBF & NISM. He has exposure of various assignments in rural, semi urban branches and in Middle East. His areas of interest include Investment credit especially high-tech Agriculture like Poly House financing, Cold storages etc. He conducted research studies on Fisheries Industry and Farmer Producer Organizations. He coordinated several external programmes on Financing Horticulture, Financing Medicinal and Aromatic Plants for officials of Commercial Banks & Regional Rural Banks across the country. He also conducted a National Seminar on Horticulture attended by several eminent scientist/entrepreneurs. He has attended several trainings on Financing High value Agriculture, IOT in Agriculture etc. offered by other external organizations like RBI, ICRISAT etc. He is also involved in many “GO-GREEN “initiatives both in the organization and public to save environment.
Sh. D. V. S. Subbaiah, (Chief Manager, Faculty)
D. V. S. Subbaiah is a graduate in physics, Law and P.G. Diploma Holder in Human Rights. He joined bank in 1985 and has vast experience in branch operations and training. His specialization is in functional aspects of Agri Financing, Risk Mitigation, Financial Inclusion and Microfinance. He was awarded as Best Faculty among Apex Training Institutes of the bank. His research studies include Risk Mitigation in Business Correspondents Channel.

K. Guru Prasad is B.Com., CAIIB, MBA (Business management). He has also done Anti Money Laundering Specialist from ACAMS, Certified Banking Compliance professional from IIBF & ICSI, Certification in Commercial Credit (CICC) from Moody's. He has 25 years of wide experience in Banking. He has experience in various domains such as Agriculture, High Value Corporate Credit, Risk & compliance, and Forex. He also worked as AVP (Compliance & MLRO) for Retail operations in Kingdom of Bahrain.

K A V S Prasad is a Masters in Rural Studies, MBA (Marketing & Finance), M.Phil. (Business Management) and CAIIB. He started his career in a Regional Rural Bank (RRB) in the year 1991. Later he joined State Bank of Hyderabad in 1992. Mr. Prasad has served in various assignments viz., Agri. Field Officer, Branch Manager, SME Divisional Manager, Faculty etc. He has served in various assignments covering domains AGR, PER & MSME.

Uttam Kumar had joined State Bank of India as Probationary Officer in 2002. He has wide experience in different roles such as Agri. Field Officer, SME Field Officer, Chief Manager (Corporate Salary Package), Branch Head etc. Prior to joining SBIRB, he worked as AGM (PBBU), Local Head Office, Thiruvanthapuram.

N. Vani is a Post graduate in Food Science and Nutrition from Manasa Gangothri, Mysuru joined the bank in 1999, has varied experience in heading different category of branches in Rural, Semi Urban and Urban Centers. Her areas of interest include Agriculture banking, Financial Inclusion & Micro Finance and awarded for financing highest number of Self-help group linkages in the Module by the Circle Head. She is keenly interested in latest developments and emerging trends in Rural development and Government initiatives for their implementation.
