Sh. Saroj Kumar Pattnaik, General Manager & Director
Mr. Pattnaik joined the State Bank of India in 1987. Mr. Pattnaik has enriched his abilities by learning continuously. He is an LLB, MBA(HR) and is also a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (CAIIB) apart from some other coveted certifications. He is having varied experience in the area of Retail Banking, Human Resources as well as overall exposure to the Bank’s training system.
He has served as Regional Manager, Circle Development Officer (HR Head of a circle) and DGM (B&O), Vadodara before he assumed the charge of GM & Director at SBIL, Kolkata.
Prof. (Dr.) Narayanan Krishna Kumar is a Banker, Consultant, Academic, Trainer and Coach with an earned Doctoral Degree in Financial Risk Management. He got the flavor of working with Indian (Public, Private Banks) and Foreign Banks in his progressive banking career spanning more than 15 years with different Banks (Viz., Citi Bank, Corporation Bank, Union Bank of India, Dhanlaxmi Bank and now SBI). During his tenure he headed ‘Risk’ and ‘Treasury’ Divisions as a ‘Senior Vice President’. He held leadership roles for more than a decade in academic administration and held the position of Professor/ Dean & Director of three different B-Schools / Universities including the GITAM School of International Business of GITAM University at Vizag in the past ten years.

Ms. Ahmad has three decades of experience, which includes heading various business positions in the bank as well as rich experience of over ten years in executive education. Her previous posting was country head for the business of SBIePay, the bank’s payment aggregator. She is pursuing a doctoral degree at MDI, Gurugram in the area of leadership.
She has expertise in concept, design and facilitation of learning workshops in the area organizational behavior (OB) for top and senior corporate leaders. She is a certified coach besides having expertise in human process lab facilitation. She has designed and conducted executive learning programmes in the OB area for senior leadership for many public and private sector banks and financial institutions in India.
Ms. Ahmad has enriched her abilities by learning continuously. Among other qualifications, she also has a Certificate Course (Train the Trainer) from Association for Talent Development (ATD), Washington, USA and has the certificate of Associate Power Coach, CLI Canada. Her articles have been published in publications of international repute.
Shri Ray is a Post Graduate in Political Science from Delhi University and LL.B. from Berhampur University. His other qualifications are CAIIB, Diploma in Training and Development from Indian Society for Training and Development and Certified Coach from CLI, Canada. He has attended the Basic and Advanced Human Processes Lab at Indian Society for Applied Behavioural Sciences and Advanced Trainers’ Programme at Association for Talent Development, USA. He joined the bank in 1988 and has held various posts of responsibility in the Bank, the last one being Circle Financial Officer of Lucknow Circle of SBI.
He has a rich experience of designing, developing and delivering executive learning programmes as well as mass internal communication programmes. He has earlier worked as faculty in the erstwhile State Bank Staff College, Hyderabad. Organisational Behaviour, Organisation Development, Faculty Skills Development and Human Process Labs are his areas of expertise. Shri Sundar Ray is an avid photographer and a bird watcher. He has authored a coffee table book on birds. He also loves reading, travelling and listening to music.
Ms. Jeanne Juanit Pereira, AGM & Faculty
Mrs Jeanne Pereira is a graduate in Economics, MBA in Banking & Finance and a CAIIB. In her career with SBI, Jeanne has handled various assignments ranging from Personal Banking, International Banking, Credit & NPA, Customer Service and Merchant Acquisition. She has had a long spell in the SBI’s Training System as a faculty cum trainer and Head of a Training Centre. Her areas of interests are Behavioural Sciences, Preventive Vigilance, Business Etiquettes and Communication.
As a faculty cum trainer in the Banks Training System, Jeanne has delivered trainings on various areas of Banking, such as Retail Banking, General Banking, Forex, Government Business, Preventive Vigilance, Linguistics, & Behavioural. She has been a Guest Faculty in many reputed B-Schools and delivers engaging sessions on Behavioural Science and Management. She has also authored several books on topics such as Banking Ombudsman Cases, Merchant Acquiring Business and BHIM Aadhaar SBI.
Ms Bhobe is a Graduate in Philosophy and an LL.B., both from Mumbai University. Her professional qualifications are Certification from IIBF in KYC & AML and SME and a CAIIB. She joined the bank in 1999 and has vast experience of working in Branch Operation, Retail Credit, Customer Service, Systems and forex. She has expertise in various areas of Organisational Behaviour and Leadership, such as motivation, assertiveness, values, decision making, work life balance, etc. She has also expertise in relatively new areas of critical thinking, design thinking and creativity. As a faculty, she holds specialisation in the area of customer service. Ms Bhobe is also an accomplished painter.
Mr. Puspen Roy, AGM & Faculty
Mr. Puspen is a Graduate in Arts from Delhi University and MA from Pondicherry University and has pursued PGPM (Post Graduation Programme in Management) from SPJIMR, Mumbai. He is a Moody’s CICC (Certification in Commercial Credit) professional and has done Diploma in International Banking from IIBF and also a Certified Associate of Indian Institute. Mr. Roy has various exposure, spanning more than thirty-four years in Operations, Credit and HR domain in State Bank of India. He has expertise in designing and developing contents, particularly in Change Management, Motivation, Leading Teams with Diversity and Execution for Strategic Leadership Development Programmes and Managerial Development Programmes, besides Certification Programmes. He has keen interest in Mathematics and loves to impart guidance in Mathematics to the needy students.
Swati is a management professional turned Trainer-Faculty-Leadership Coach and brings rich corporate experience in the areas of Leadership, Business Development, Corporate Communications, Marketing, Human Resources and Operations. Over her 30-year career, she has led strategic and cross-business growth and people development initiatives in companies such as Computer Associates and Infosys, and in her last corporate assignment was Vice President Operations at Barclays. Swati is now a full time Faculty, Trainer and Leadership Coach conducting Training for Corporates, Leadership Academies and Business Schools including Symbiosis, Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Sciences, and ICFAI Business School. She is a Faculty with the prestigious State Bank Institute of Leadership and conducts Leadership Development Programmes on Leadership and Managerial Skills, Strategy, Personal Effectiveness, Communication, and Creative and Design Thinking, and Human Resources. Her forte is teaching clear concepts and building strong fundamentals through innovative pedagogy styles including art, activities, cases, role-plays, and games.
Swati is an engineer in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from Jadavpur University, and a gold medallist (PGCGM) from the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta. As an avid Maths and English enthusiast, she spends her free hours teaching elementary, advanced and competitive Maths & English to school and college students. She loves travelling and painting, dabbling in words and figures, and sunsets.

Dr. Jagannath Mallick
Dr. Jagannath Mallick is working with SBIL since March 2019. He has worked at various capacities such as Asst. Professor, International Fellow and Senior Researcher in the organisations in India, Japan, and the Czech Republic. He has about 11 years of teaching and research experiences in Global Economic Growth, Productivity, Regional Disparity, and Applied Econometrics. He has worked as a lead researcher in various international projects. Currently, he is focusing on Globalisation, Global value chains (GVCs) and banking sector performances at SBIL. He has about 25 publications, some of them are published in reputed international and national journals like Annals of Regional Science, Journal of Economic Surveys, Singapore Economic Review, Indian Economic Review, and in books published by Asian Development Bank (ADB). He has made presentations about 20 international conferences in USA, Japan, Germany, Italy, France, Czech Republic, Russia, and China in the events of ADB, OECD etc. He has also chaired sessions, and delivered lectures/seminars in the organisations in India and abroad.
Dr. Jagannath Mallick has received nine awards and grants from the national and international bodies including Young Researcher of World Bank, Young Scientists Award of Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting (Germany), Dr. Raghuram Rajan’s Young Researcher Award, etc.
He had done an MA in economics from University of Hyderabad (UOH) and completed a Ph.D. in Economics from the Institute of Social and Economic Change (ISEC), Bangalore.
Dr. Rekha A G has been working with State Bank of India since 2006. She holds a doctorate in management from IIM Kozhikode in the IT & Systems area. An engineer in Computer Science (B-Tech University of Kerala), she also holds Master’s in Software Systems (BITS Pilani), MBA in Finance (University of Kerala) and CAIIB (IIBF).
She has successful research/consultancy experience with reputed institutes including Institute of High-Performance Computing (IHPC)-A*STAR-Singapore and Institute for Development & Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT)-Hyderabad. Her academic work has been published in reputed international journals which include Expert Systems with Applications, Journal of Information and Optimization Sciences etc. She also serves as ad-hoc reviewer to journals. She has presented her work in international /national conferences and has won many best paper awards.
Her research interests fall broadly under Decision Sciences, Analytics and Management.

SBIL has 5 regular classrooms and 2 multi-utility halls fitted with modern gadgets with maximum capacity of 40 participants each providing a total capacity of 280. In addition, the institute has 22 discussion / meeting rooms / breakout halls having capacity ranging from 5 to 23. SBIL also has 3 conference halls – 2 having capacity of 22 each and 1 of 52 with Video Conferencing facilities.
The library of the institute has both Conventional and Digital section. Conventional Library has collection of around 1850 printed books. It also subscribes to approximately 40 journals/magazines and 14 newspapers. E-Books and E-journals from EBSCO, JSMS, and M/s Sage Publishers are subscribed by the Library. SBIL library is also equipped with IBM SPSS Statistical Base Authorized License & software subscription and Prowess-IQ by CMIE (Centre for Monitoring of Indian Economy).
SBIL has a hostel capacity of 196 on a single occupancy basis including 4 rooms for differently abled persons. All hostel rooms are having star-hotel category features. It has two dining rooms which serve sumptuous food and can accommodate all programme participants .
The hub building faces an outdoor amphitheatre and the water body. It accommodates a Table Tennis room and a Billiard room on the ground floor, a Gymnasium and an indoor Badminton Court on the 1st floor. A swimming Pool is present adjacent to the Hub Building. SBIL is equipped with flood lit lawn tennis and basketball courts for the recreation purpose of the training participants. It also has facility for cycling within and outside the campus.
There is a state-of-the-art auditorium having a seating capacity of 387. Equipped with modern audio and visual equipment, it can offer a delight to any performing artiste.
