Shri Madhukar Anand, (General Manager & Director)
Shri Madhukar Anand joined the State Bank of India in 1985 as a Probationary Officer. He has served as Regional Manager (Chandigarh), Dy. General Manager (Business & Operations) Bengaluru City and headed close to 437+ branches under Network III of Ahmedabad Circle as General Manager. He was serving as General Manager (FI&MM), Ahmedabad Circle before assuming charge of General Manager & Director of State Bank Institute of Leadership, Kolkata.
In his diversified career spanning over 35 years, he has, inter-alia, held the position of Chief Operating Officer of Nepal SBI Bank Ltd., from September 2007 till March 2012. Previously, he was part of the IT-ALM Treasury Project at the Corporate Centre from July 2002 to August 2007, where he led a team which re-designed the Bank’s Transfer Pricing System and also played an instrumental role in revamping the Bank’s Asset Liability Management.
Shri Anand is an M.Sc. in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. He loves to read, travel and is an avid follower of the game of Cricket.
Prof. (Dr.) Narayanan Krishna Kumar (Dean)
Prof. (Dr.) Narayanan Krishna Kumar is a Banker, Consultant, Academic, Trainer and Coach with an earned Doctoral Degree in Financial Risk Management. He got the flavor of working with Indian (Public, Private Banks) and Foreign Banks in his progressive banking career spanning more than 15 years with different Banks (Viz., Citi Bank, Corporation Bank, Union Bank of India, Dhanlaxmi Bank and now SBI). During his tenure he headed ‘Risk’ and ‘Treasury’ Divisions as a ‘Senior Vice President’. He held leadership roles for more than a decade in academic administration and held the position of Professor/ Dean & Director of three different B-Schools / Universities including the GITAM School of International Business of GITAM University at Vizag in the past ten years.

Ms. Singh is a Postgraduate in Mathematics from Delhi University. She did her graduation from Miranda House, Delhi University. She has also done B Ed from Central Institute of Education, Delhi University. After joining bank in 1998 as Probationary Officer, she did CAIIB. She also did Executive MBA from SP Jain Institute of Management and Research, Mumbai.
In the last 22 years, she has held various operational assignments including Branch Head, CPC head and Regional Manager. The rich operational experience is an added tool while designing and delivering course for leadership development.
She has learnt classical Kathak dance for 8 years. She likes to paint and some of her paintings adorn the walls of her previous offices. She also loves reading, travelling and listening to music.
Mr. Subrat Kumar Sundar Ray, DGM & Faculty
Shri Ray is a Post Graduate in Political Science from Delhi University and LL.B. from Berhampur University. His other qualifications are CAIIB, Diploma in Training and Development from Indian Society for Training and Development and Certified Coach from CLI, Canada. He has attended the Basic and Advanced Human Processes Lab at Indian Society for Applied Behavioural Sciences and Advanced Trainers’ Programme at Association for Talent Development, USA. He joined the bank in 1988 and has held various posts of responsibility in the Bank, the last one being Circle Financial Officer of Lucknow Circle of SBI.
He has a rich experience of designing, developing and delivering executive learning programmes as well as mass internal communication programmes. He has earlier worked as faculty in the erstwhile State Bank Staff College, Hyderabad. Organisational Behaviour, Organisation Development, Faculty Skills Development and Human Process Labs are his areas of expertise. Shri Sundar Ray is an avid photographer and a bird watcher. He has authored a coffee table book on birds. He also loves reading, travelling and listening to music.
Mr. Madhuker Gupta, AGM & Faculty
Shri Madhuker Gupta had joined the Bank as a Probationary Officer in 2001. In his career of 20 years he has had experience of Branch Management, Customer Service, Credit, IT and Marketing. He has also been a faculty at SBILD Raipur for 4 years during which he was trained as a Behavioural Science trainer.
Shri Gupta joined SBIL Kolkata in September 2021 as AGM & Faculty. In his current role he is responsible for designing and taking sessions on Organisational Behaviour related subjects conducted for internal as well as external participants.
He is a graduate in Civil engineering and PGDBA in marketing. He is passionate about travelling and puzzle solving.
Ms. Shobha Bhobe, AGM & Faculty
Ms Bhobe is a Graduate in Philosophy and an LL.B., both from Mumbai University. Her professional qualifications are Certification from IIBF in KYC & AML and SME and a CAIIB. She joined the bank in 1999 and has vast experience of working in Branch Operation, Retail Credit, Customer Service, Systems and forex. She has expertise in various areas of Organisational Behaviour and Leadership, such as motivation, assertiveness, values, decision making, work life balance, etc. She has also expertise in relatively new areas of critical thinking, design thinking and creativity. As a faculty, she holds specialisation in the area of customer service. Ms Bhobe is also an accomplished painter.
Mr. Puspen Roy, AGM & Faculty
Mr. Puspen is a Graduate in Arts from Delhi University and MA from Pondicherry University and has pursued PGPM (Post Graduation Programme in Management) from SPJIMR, Mumbai. He is a Moody’s CICC (Certification in Commercial Credit) professional and has done Diploma in International Banking from IIBF and also a Certified Associate of Indian Institute. Mr. Roy has various exposure, spanning more than thirty-four years in Operations, Credit and HR domain in State Bank of India. He has expertise in designing and developing contents, particularly in Change Management, Motivation, Leading Teams with Diversity and Execution for Strategic Leadership Development Programmes and Managerial Development Programmes, besides Certification Programmes. He has keen interest in Mathematics and loves to impart guidance in Mathematics to the needy students.

A TISS certified master trainer she has conducted executive courses and customized training across sectors and organizational levels. She is known to have leveraged in-depth understanding of key stakeholders in training, to launch L&D initiatives for start-ups and worked closely with premier Institutions including IIMs to bridge gaps in industry readiness; with proven metrics of success. She has successfully innovated on the hybrid/blended approach to Soft skills training in Healthcare and other sectors. She has unified the elements of LMS for optimal learning outcomes with competency based eLearning content and delivery.
She is a leader with proven experience in converting concepts to fully scalable products in education technology related to the Pharma/Healthcare domain, IT and in the Education sector. She has led Training and Placements for MBA - Hospital and Healthcare program at Symbiosis International University. Part of leadership team bridging disparities in IT education she had also mentored the launch of MBA in Pharma at S.P. Pune University. She is a member of Board of Studies of School for Vocational Education and Distance Education.

SBIL has 5 regular classrooms and 2 multi-utility halls fitted with modern gadgets with maximum capacity of 40 participants each providing a total capacity of 280. In addition, the institute has 22 discussion / meeting rooms / breakout halls having capacity ranging from 5 to 23. SBIL also has 3 conference halls – 2 having capacity of 22 each and 1 of 52 with Video Conferencing facilities.
The library of the institute has both Conventional and Digital section. Conventional Library has collection of around 1850 printed books. It also subscribes to approximately 40 journals/magazines and 14 newspapers. E-Books and E-journals from EBSCO, JSMS, and M/s Sage Publishers are subscribed by the Library. SBIL library is also equipped with IBM SPSS Statistical Base Authorized License & software subscription and Prowess-IQ by CMIE (Centre for Monitoring of Indian Economy).
SBIL has a hostel capacity of 196 on a single occupancy basis including 4 rooms for differently abled persons. All hostel rooms are having star-hotel category features. It has two dining rooms which serve sumptuous food and can accommodate all programme participants .
The hub building faces an outdoor amphitheatre and the water body. It accommodates a Table Tennis room and a Billiard room on the ground floor, a Gymnasium and an indoor Badminton Court on the 1st floor. A swimming Pool is present adjacent to the Hub Building. SBIL is equipped with flood lit lawn tennis and basketball courts for the recreation purpose of the training participants. It also has facility for cycling within and outside the campus.
There is a state-of-the-art auditorium having a seating capacity of 387. Equipped with modern audio and visual equipment, it can offer a delight to any performing artiste.
